Newark Police investigate assault on East Delaware Avenue
7:26 a.m., Feb. 18, 2013--Newark Police are investigating an assault of a 24-year-old man that occurred around 1:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 18, on East Delaware Avenue, near Haines Street in Newark.
The victim, who is a not a University of Delaware student, was approached from behind by a man who threatened him with a handgun. After the initial assault, three more men approached the victim and assaulted him as well.

The suspects took the victim’s wallet and then fled east on Delaware toward South Chapel Street. In the area near the Calvary Baptist church, they met up with a dark colored sedan with possible Delaware registration.
The first suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and the other suspects were described as black men.
