Newark Police investigate armed robbery on Elkton Road

5:59 p.m., Dec. 11, 2012--Newark Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 4:02 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, at a Lieberman’s book buy-back tent on Elkton Road in the parking lot of Buffalo Wild Wings.
A 29-year-old man was working as a clerk at the tent, which purchases used textbooks from college students, when two men approached him and one of them displayed a handgun and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of currency, the pair fled on foot north on Elkton Road. They ran under the pedestrian underpass leading to the Rodney Residence Hall complex and then were seen going north, parallel to the CSX railroad tracks. The clerk, who is not a UD student, was not injured during the incident.
Officers from Newark Police and UD Police responded immediately to the scene, but the suspects were not located.
The first suspect is described as 25-30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, with a thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He was armed with an unknown small black handgun. The second suspect is described at 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a stocky build and brown or black hair, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with horizontal stripes, dark pants and gray sneakers.
