Carillon to chime 26 times Friday to honor Sandy Hook victims
11:45 a.m., Dec. 20, 2012--The University of Delaware will join the residents of Connecticut and groups around the country to honor the memory of the 26 victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
On Friday, Dec. 21, at 9:30 a.m., UD will use its carillon system to chime 26 times in remembrance of each victim from last week’s shooting. Leading up to the 26 chimes, Amazing Grace will play on the carillon system.

Doctoral hooding
It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

Delaware Gov. Jack Markell has asked for Delawareans to join the residents of Connecticut in a moment of silence and for institutions to toll 26 chimes in memory of the victims.
