Welcome Days receptions announced by Office of Equity and Inclusion

8:11 a.m., Aug. 20, 2012--The University of Delaware Office of Equity and Inclusion, in concert with 1743 Welcome Days and several caucuses, has announced a series of receptions -- open to any interested student or employee -- to kick off the new academic year and welcome new members to the UD campus.

Each reception, built around a specific community, is designed to gather new or returning students and caucus members in a setting they may not normally encounter day-to-day. It provides an opportunity for everyone, first-year students in particular, to find their place at UD.

June 6: UDid It! Picnic

All UD faculty and staff members are invited to attend the annual UDid It! employee appreciation picnic, set from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday, June 6, on The Green.

2FA protects you

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

An OEI representative said “this is an occasion to meet fellow students and professionals who are like-minded, give returners a chance to reconnect, and to provide a forum to informally discuss any topics that may be relevant to their community.”

Employees and students can attend as many receptions as they are interested in. Questions regarding the receptions can be directed to the OEI at 831-8063.

The receptions are as follows:

Monday, Aug. 27, 5 p.m., UD Exceptionalities Soiree, Alumni Lounge, Perkins Student Center. The Office of Disability Support Services, the Disability Caucus and OEI welcome all differently-abled students and employees to join for a fun gathering of camaraderie.

Wednesday, Aug. 29, African Heritage Reception. Note: The African Heritage Caucus welcome reception has been postponed until October. The time, date and location will be announced at a later date.

Thursday, Aug. 30, 5 p.m., International Reception, 209/211 Trabant University Center. The International Caucus, OEI, and the Office of International Students and Scholars welcome those from other countries to our community. Come meet other international students from across the globe in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Wednesday, Sept. 5, 5 p.m., Lavender Reception: LGBTQ and Allied Welcome, first floor student lounge, Trabant University Center. Members of the LGBTQ community are warmly welcomed at this reception to meet and greet UD LGBTQ students, staff and allies. Co-sponsored by the OEI, Haven, UD’s LGBTQ student organization, and the LGBT Faculty/Staff Caucus.
