Newark Police investigate home invasion robbery

4:19 p.m., Aug. 23, 2012--Newark Police are investigating what appears to be a drug-related home invasion style armed robbery that occurred around 11 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 22, at an apartment in the 600 block of Lehigh Road in Newark.

The 23-year-old male victim answered a knock at the door and was confronted by two men who forced their way inside. One was armed with an unknown type of handgun and threw the victim onto a couch and placed the gun to his head, while the second man searched the apartment. The suspects fled after stealing the victim's laptop, cell phone and Air Jordan sneakers.

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

The victim, who is not a UD student, was not injured. He went to a family member's home and reported the incident to police about an hour after it occurred.

During the investigation, police determined that illegal drug activity was conducted at the residence and they said they believe the suspects were searching for drugs and/or drug proceeds.

The first suspect is described as approximately 25 years old, 6 feet 3 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall, with a muscular build, short hair and a full beard. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, black and silver sneakers and was armed.

The second suspect is described as approximately 22-23 years old, 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a thin build and clean shaven. He was wearing a black shirt, green shorts and sunglasses.
