Aug. 18: Amish country trip

UD department co-sponsors Amish field trip on sustainable lifestyles

8:32 a.m., Aug. 2, 2012--The University of Delaware's Department of Animal and Food Sciences and the Society of Natural History of Delaware will co-sponsor a field trip on sustainable lifestyles to Amish country in Kent County on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Participants can see Amish-style technology, organic farming, renewable energy, a greenhouse and a furniture factory.

Elizabeth S. Anderson of the University of Michigan will speak on "Social Movements and Moral Progress" in the American Philosophical Association Lecture at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, in 104 Gore Hall.

Nov. 21: Festival of Nations

The University of Delaware will host the annual Festival of Nations from 5-9 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center.

The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. Participants will meet at the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control parking lot.
