Aug. 18: Amish country trip

UD department co-sponsors Amish field trip on sustainable lifestyles

8:32 a.m., Aug. 2, 2012--The University of Delaware's Department of Animal and Food Sciences and the Society of Natural History of Delaware will co-sponsor a field trip on sustainable lifestyles to Amish country in Kent County on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Participants can see Amish-style technology, organic farming, renewable energy, a greenhouse and a furniture factory.

Jack Gallagher will discuss the evolution of plants in coastal ecosystems in a public lecture in Lewes on June 20.

Through June 28: Kasebier exhibition

A new exhibition, "Gertrude Kasebier: The Complexity of Light and Shade," will be on view Feb. 6-June 28 in the University of Delaware's Old College Main Gallery.

The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. Participants will meet at the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control parking lot.
