April 22-26: Lab Week
University to mark Medical Laboratory Professionals Week
1:40 p.m., April 16, 2013--The University of Delaware will celebrate Medical Laboratory Professionals Week from April 22-26 with a special lunch for junior medical laboratory science students as well as with games and prizes.
Medical Laboratory Professionals Week is an annual celebration of the laboratory professionals and pathologists who play a vital role in every aspect of health care. Since they often work behind the scenes, few people know about the critical testing they perform every day.

Lab Week is a time to honor the more than 300,000 medical laboratory professionals around the country who perform and interpret more than 10 billion laboratory tests in the U.S. every year.
Medical laboratory science professionals are employed on the UD campus in the following areas:
- Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, where they instruct and mentor students who are studying to become medical laboratory professionals.
- Student Health Services, where they staff the clinical laboratory and perform laboratory analyses on students who require medical care.
- Environmental Health and Safety, where they assist other professionals in providing a safe learning and working environment on the entire UD campus.
