University alumni invited to visit ballparks as part of national baseball series

10:32 a.m., April 19, 2013--University of Delaware alumni from coast to coast are invited to enjoy the national pastime with the return of the annual national baseball series.

The series will be held from May through September and will feature more than 20 games, many with private receptions and picnics.

UD ROTC cadets will run from New York City to Miami this month to raise awareness about veterans' affairs.

Thursday, April 25, 5 p.m.: New Jersey Devils hockey. UD alumni will gather for a reception at the Brick City Bar and Grill in Newark, N.J., and a New Jersey Devils hockey game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Prudential Center.

Thursday, April 25, 5:30 p.m.: Philadelphia Flyers hockey. UD alumni are invited to a reception at McFadden’s Ballpark and a Philadelphia Flyers hockey game against the New York Islanders at the Wells Fargo Center.

Sunday, April 28, 9:30 a.m.: Boston Spring Classic. Alumni in Boston will get together for the Spring Classic 5K road race and post-race party. Participants of all running abilities are welcome.

Thursday, May 2, 5:30 p.m.: Baseball series in Philadelphia. Join Philadelphia area alumni as the Phillies take on the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park.

Friday, May 3, 8:30 a.m.: Ricky Barbour Memorial Golf Outing. UD alumni and golf enthusiasts will meet at Chisel Creek Golf Club in Landenberg, Pa., to raise money for the Ricky Barbour Memorial Scholarship Fund, which benefits a deserving University of Delaware senior accepted for admission to an accredited law school.

Friday, May 3, 9 a.m.: Sigma Epsilon golf. The brothers of Sigma Epsilon will meet for a day of golf, lunch and an awards ceremony at Deerfield in Newark.

Friday May 3, 5 p.m.: Baseball series in Texas. UD alumni will gather for a night at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas. There will be a pre-game dinner with Blue Hen and former Texas Ranger outfielder Kevin Mench, of the Class of 2000.

Friday, May 3, 5:30 p.m.: Baseball series in Pittsburgh. Alumni can cheer on the Pittsburgh Pirates in a game against the Washington Nationals after enjoying a reception at the Rivertowne Brewing Hall of Fame Club at PNC Park with fellow Blue Hens.

Saturday, May 4, 9 a.m.: Virginia Gold Cup. UD alumni will gather on University Row for the annual Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase horse races for one of the region’s largest intra-alumni social events of the year. Last year, more than 80 alumni chapters were on hand for the event in The Plains, Va.

Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m.: Sailing Team Alumni Regatta. UD sailing alumni will hold their annual regatta at the Yacht Club in North East, Md.

Saturday, May 4, 11 a.m.: Blue Hens Fandemonium IV. Alumni are invited to Blue Hens Fandemonium IV, an action-packed day of entertain, food and fun in conjunction with Blue Hens baseball and the annual Blue-White football spring game.

Saturday, May 4, 4 p.m.: Reading brewery tour. Alumni and friends will meet at the Union Barrel Works for a tour of the brewery known for its unfiltered, hand-crafted beers.

Friday, May 10, 4 p.m.: Senior Fling 2013. Open to all students, the Senior Fling is an afternoon of free entertainment, music, food, prizes and activities on the North Green to celebrate and congratulate the graduating class.

Friday, May 10, 6:10 p.m.: Baseball series in Phoenix. Alumni in Phoenix, Ariz., will get together for an evening of baseball as the Diamondbacks take on the Philadelphia Phillies. Hens can enjoy a buffet dinner, fireworks and a concert.

Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m.: Dad Vail Regatta. Join the UD Men's Crew Alumni Association and Blue Hen families for food and fun under the UD tent at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia.
