University of Delaware Library offers fall genealogy workshops
2:50 p.m., Sept. 29, 2011--The University of Delaware Library will present two different workshops on genealogy during the 2011 fall semester.
“Genealogy for Beginners” will be presented on Thursday, Oct.13, from 10 a.m. to noon, in the Library Instruction Room (116A) on the first floor of the Morris Library.

June 6-9: Food and culture series
This workshop covers the basics for researchers who are just starting to work on their family histories. It presents an overview of the types of records that contain genealogical information as well as research strategies for finding and recording this data. Participants will also learn how to search the online database Ancestry Library Edition for U.S. census records.
Presenters will be Rebecca Knight, associate librarian, Reference Department, and Linda Stein, librarian, also of the Reference Department.
“Genealogy Resources for Immigration” will be presented on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon, also in the Library Instruction Room.
Learn how to find information about new arrivals in this country using historical resources such as ship passenger lists and manifests, oaths of allegiance and naturalization records.
Again, presenters will be Knight and Stein.
The workshops are available at no charge and are open to UD faculty, staff, students and the public. Seating is limited, and registration is required, and for faculty, staff and students can be completed online.
