Organized by service-learning scholars Greg Casement, Jenna Knaster and Matthew Marion, ProjectMUSIC Day provided an opportunity for students of Richardson Park Elementary School and The College School to experience music on the UD campus in Newark.
Students spent the day watching some of UD's top ensembles perform and experienced the musical diversity that UD teaching-artists and small ensembles have to offer.
ProjectMUSIC -- for Music Uniting Students Inspiring Communities -- is now in its sixth year as a service-learning project at UD.
The program is designed to bring music into the schools through the use of small chamber ensembles and UD teaching-artist visits.
In addition to exposing the students to a variety of music genres, the programs put on by the teaching artists are intended to bolster the performing arts curriculum that is already in place in the school.
Casement, Knaster and Marion are music education majors, and Knaster is also a UD Honors Program student.
