Electric power out in Perkins, building closed until Friday

2:32 p.m., May 3, 2012--The Perkins Student Center has closed today because of a power outage and will reopen on Friday, May 4.

Some events scheduled in Perkins today have been moved to new locations:

• The Zumba Club meeting scheduled today has been canceled. 

• The Fencing Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. in Trabant Multipurpose Room B.

* The Foreign Languages and Literatures French Honor Society event will now be held in Multipurpose Room A of the Trabant University Center, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

• The Wellspring POW meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in 219 Trabant. 

A major power outage in Newark affected several campus buildings as well as traffic lights in the area for a brief period this afternoon. 

Also, this afternoon, local fire companies responded to the New Castle Hall residence hall after a report of smoke. The residence hall was evacuated, but there was no fire. Residents were allowed to re-enter at 3 p.m.
