May 14: BAMS lecture

Wilmington's Kuumba Academy topic of BAMS lecture in Munroe Hall

8:16 a.m., May 7, 2012--The University of Delaware Department of Black American Studies spring brown bag lecture series will conclude Monday, May 14, with a presentation by H. Ray Jones Avery on Wilmington's Kuumba Academy.

The presentation, titled "Rock in a Weary Land: The Untold Story of Kuumba Academy," will be held from 12:20-1:30 p.m. in 203 Munroe Hall. The origins of the "Kuumba spirit" in Wilmington and its impact on education in Delaware will be discussed.

Oct. 28: 'Untitled 2' talk, opening

UD's Department of Art will hold an artist talk and reception to mark the opening of the exhibition "Untitled 2," featuring work by Mark Franchino and Jeremy Boyle, on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The lecture is free and open to the public.
