May 14: BAMS lecture
Wilmington's Kuumba Academy topic of BAMS lecture in Munroe Hall
8:16 a.m., May 7, 2012--The University of Delaware Department of Black American Studies spring brown bag lecture series will conclude Monday, May 14, with a presentation by H. Ray Jones Avery on Wilmington's Kuumba Academy.
The presentation, titled "Rock in a Weary Land: The Untold Story of Kuumba Academy," will be held from 12:20-1:30 p.m. in 203 Munroe Hall. The origins of the "Kuumba spirit" in Wilmington and its impact on education in Delaware will be discussed.

The campus community is invited to attend the inaugural Adelante: Latino-Hispanic Graduation Celebration, sponsored by UD's Center for Black Culture, at 4 p.m., Friday, May 24.
Through June 3: 'Emancipation'
The UD Library has announced a new exhibition titled "Emancipation and Its Legacies," which will be on view in the Lincoln Exhibit Case in the Morris Library through Monday, June 3.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
