Employee appreciation picnic food drive benefits Food Bank of Delaware
8:59 a.m., June 29, 2012--The University of Delaware's annual UDid It! employee appreciation event held last month provided an opportunity for the campus to serve the broader community by putting food on the tables of others.
This year, members of the UD campus community donated 218 pounds of food items to the Food Bank of Delaware.
Additionally, a future food donation campaign was announced for the fall semester. The BlueHensCAN effort will be held in cooperation with the Food Bank.
The names of UD employees who donated canned goods at the June event were placed in a drawing for a brand new iPad donated by the Office of Communications and Marketing and the winner was JoAlice Casapulla from Facilities and Auxiliary Services.
In an attempt to be good shepherds of the environment, UD also recycled 260 pounds and composted 619 pounds of waste from the event.
This was the fourth annual UDid It! employee appreciation picnic. The event is held to thank UD faculty and staff for their efforts throughout the academic year.
