10:06 a.m., Jan. 3, 2012--Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine's newest list of the 100 best values in public colleges includes the University of Delaware. The ranking highlights “four-year institutions that deliver a quality education at an affordable price.”

The magazine announced its list in its February issue, now on newsstands.

Campus Stories

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

UD was selected from a pool of more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities. The magazine ranks universities by assessing their quality of education and their costs. This year, Kiplinger's revamped the rankings to give more weight to academic value.

UD ranks 25th, proving UD is a smart money decision, especially compared to some other East Coast institutions -- for example, the University of Pittsburgh (ranked 29th), University of Connecticut (30th), Penn State (51st), Rutgers (43rd), George Mason University (50th) and the University of Massachusetts Amherst (70th).
