2:58 p.m., Jan. 5, 2012--Michael Hayes Fay, 40, of Wilmington, Del., died Dec. 27. 

A graduate of Brandywine High School in Wilmington, Del., Mr. Fay graduated magna cum laude from the University of Delaware with a bachelor's degree in political science in 1994 and went on to earn his MBA in marketing at UD in 1998. He worked in Financial Aid at UD for several years, leaving in 2006. 

Most recently, he worked as e-commerce marketing director at JPMorgan Chase in Wilmington.

A lover of animals, he never hesitated to take in a stray or care for his own dogs and cats through the years, as well as support local animal organizations. His passions included vacationing in Florida, attending UD football games, playing guitar, maintaining aquariums, rooting for the Flyers and horse racing, with annual family trips to Keeneland and Saratoga.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Burckell Fay; son Teddy; parents Irma Jane and J. Wayne Lewis, and J. Michael and Mary Fay; grandfather L. Franklin Hayes; sister Laura Lewis Brown; brothers Jamie Lewis, and Joseph and Daniel Fay; and dogs Ulfie and Teddy, as well as a niece, nephews, aunt, uncle, brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins and friends.

A memorial service was held Dec. 30 at Chandler Funeral Home, followed by burial at the Wilmington and Brandywine Cemetery.
