UD offices to close Dec. 24 through Jan. 2
9:43 a.m., Dec. 16, 2011--University of Delaware offices will close for the winter holidays beginning at 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Jan. 2.
University offices will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 3, and Winter Session classes begin that day at 8 a.m.
Food Bank boost
Residence hall check-in for Winter Session students will be held from 2-9 p.m., Monday, Jan. 2, and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Following is information on specific services.
University of Delaware Library
The Morris Library will be open until 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, and will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17-18. From Monday through Friday, Dec. 19-23, the Morris Library will be open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Morris Library will be closed Saturday, Dec. 24, through Monday, Jan. 2, and will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 3, following the University calendar.
The Agriculture Library, the Chemistry Library and the Physics Library will be open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 16, and will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17-18. From Monday, Dec. 19, through Friday, Dec. 23, these branch libraries will be open from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. They will be closed Saturday, Dec. 24, through Monday, Jan. 2.
The Marine Studies Library will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17-18, and will be closed again Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Jan. 2.
The electronic library of the University of Delaware Library, which is available 24/7, provides access for UD faculty, students and staff to a rich array of online library resources, including DELCAT, WorldCat Local, databases, full-text information, electronic journals and newspapers, Research Guides, the Institutional Repository and much more. The UD Bookstore, located at 83 East Main St., is open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, through Dec. 22, and from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Fridays, Dec. 16 and 23. The bookstore is open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17; and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. Closed on Sunday, Dec. 25, it will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday through Friday, Dec. 26-30, and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31.
The bookstore will be closed on Sunday, Jan. 1, and will be open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 2-3. Regular Winter Session hours for the bookstore and the Blue Hen Café will begin Wednesday, Jan. 4.
The Apple Authorized Campus Store on the second floor of the facility will be open the same hours as the UD Bookstore.
Student Health Services
Student Health Services will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, Dec. 19-23, and then will close until 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 2, when 24/7 coverage will resume.
Campus Mail will not be picking up mail left in the white mail boxes around campus at the normal 3 p.m. time on Friday, Dec. 23. If you have outgoing mail, please make sure it is in the boxes before 1 p.m. on Dec. 23. If you have a large mailing, contact Campus Mail before 1 p.m., Dec. 23, to have it picked up.
Information Technologies' computing sites and service areas will close for the holidays at 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 23, and re-open at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The UDairy Creamery will close at 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 23, and remain closed until Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The Trabant University Center box office is closed through Winter Session.
The Bob Carpenter Center box office is closed through Thursday, Dec. 29. It will be open on Friday, Dec. 30, beginning at 5 p.m. for the men’s basketball game against Temple, which starts at 7 p.m. Regular business hours will resume beginning Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The Delaware Field House ticket office will be closed through Thursday, Dec. 29, reopening on Friday, Dec. 30, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. The offices will once again be closed on Monday, Jan. 2, and regular business hours will begin Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The University Bus System will operate on its regular schedule through Friday, Dec. 16, with service ending after evening routes. Hen After 10 will not operate Dec. 16. Bus service will resume on Monday, Jan. 2, with one shuttle bus operating on a campus loop from 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Shuttle buses will begin Winter Session schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Individuals with Blue and Red parking permits may park in Gold lots while the shuttle buses are not running, Dec. 17-Jan. 1.
Parking Services will close at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 23, for the break. All online services will be available.

Rust Ice Arena
UD's Fred Rust Ice Arena will feature holiday ice with candy cane stripes beginning Dec. 22. Special holiday skating sessions will be held from 1-3:15 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22; from 1-3:15 and 8-10 p.m., Friday, Dec. 23; and from 1-3:15 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 24. Sessions are scheduled from 1-3:15 and 8-10 p.m., Monday through Friday, Dec. 26-30, with several special activities including the Juggling Hoffmans from 2-3 p.m. Dec. 27; free sand art from 1-3 p.m., Dec. 28; Raymond Entertainment performers from 1-3 p.m., Dec. 29 and 30. On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 31-Jan. 1, sessions are scheduled from 1-4 p.m., featuring a live disc jockey both days. On Monday, Jan. 2, a public skating session is scheduled from 1-3:15 p.m.
