Civil Union Act: Enrollment information
11:01 a.m., Dec. 20, 2011--Senate Bill 30 was signed into law and becomes effective Jan. 1, 2012. As of that date, individuals who enter into a lawful same-sex civil union in Delaware, or whose same-sex marriage is a recognized civil union under Delaware law, will have the same rights, benefits, protections and responsibilities as married persons under Delaware law.
Accordingly, University of Delaware employees entering into a civil union in Delaware on or after Jan. 1, 2012, who wish to add their civil union spouse and/or their civil union spouse’s children onto their health and prescription drug plans must notify the University Office of Human Resources no later than 30 days after their Delaware civil union.
