12 p.m., Aug. 9, 2011--Jane S. Warter, 79, of Newark, died Aug. 5.

Ms. Warter, who was active in Master Gardeners and the University of Delaware Women's Club, was the wife of Peter J. Warter, professor emeritus of electrical and computer engineering at the University. 

She was involved in the campus community, and the Warters often entertained UD students at their summer home on Keuka Lake in New York. 

Born in Trenton, N.J., she graduated from Cornell University in 1954.

Ms. Warter was involved in numerous organizations, including the Cornell University Council, Planned Parenthood, Girl Scouts, the Cornell Club, Book Club, Bridge Club, Garden Club and the DDDs.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, Ms. Warter is survived by her daughter Lyn Goff from Wallingford, Pa.; her son Jamie Warter from Arlington, Mass.; and her daughter Nancy Warter-Perez from Altadena, Calif., as well as nine grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Newark.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Peter J. Warter Scholarship Fund, in care of the University of Delaware Office of Annual Giving.
