Arrival Survival volunteers needed

10:25 p.m., Aug. 28, 2011--With the recent storm and the revised move-in schedule, volunteers are needed for this year’s Arrival Survival Team (AST).

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

--Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m.-10 p.m., and 

--Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. 

A typical shift is scheduled for three hours in one of the first-year areas. 

Those interested in helping the Arrival Survival Team should send email to Linda Wooters at lwooters@udel.edu by noon, Monday, Aug. 28. Be sure to include whether you are available Tuesday, Wednesday or both; and whether you would be available morning, afternoon or evening on each day. 

Those who send an email indicating that they plan to volunteer should stop by the Residence Life Office at 5 Courtney St., from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, to pick up an AST T-shirt.  Shift assignment information will be emailed to all volunteers by the end of the work day on Monday.
