Geis Student Research on Women Conference set at UD

3 p.m., April 26, 2012--The Geis Student Research on Women Conference will be held Saturday, April 28, in the Perkins Student Center on the University of Delaware campus in Newark.

The daylong conference will feature presentations by undergraduate and graduate students from the Greater Philadelphia Women's Studies Consortium. Monetary awards will be given in recognition of outstanding research papers on women and gender.

Through May 10: 'The 39 Steps'

The University of Delaware Resident Ensemble Players will present "Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps" through May 10 at the Roselle Center for the Arts.

April 27: Free speech/hate speech

Space is still available in the special half-day symposium at UD that will explore the complexities of free speech, the hurtful impact of hate speech and ways to balance privilege with the rights of others. Advance registration is required.

There will be a lunchtime keynote presentation by Lisa Ruchti, assistant professor of women's studies at West Chester (Pa.) University.

The conference is being presented by the UD Department of Women's Studies, the Greater Philadelphia Women's Studies Consortium and the UD Office of Equity and Inclusion.
