April 22: Race to Give Back
Earth Week to include third annual Race to Give Back 5K
8:09 a.m., April 18, 2012--As part of Earth Week activities at the University of Delaware, the third annual Race to Give Back 5K will be held from noon to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 22, at the Laird Campus turf field.
The race will begin at 1 p.m., with the course along Creek Road.

There will be free organic cotton T-shirts for the first 75 people who register. Registration is $18 until 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, and $22 after that date and on race day. Student fee is $14 with UD ID.

In addition to the run, there will be music by DJ Z, food and information about how to lead a more sustainable life.
Shoe collection
The Graduate Student Government Sustainability Committee will be collecting athletic shoes as part of Earth Week, with a collection station at Sunday's race.
Collections also will be accepted at the Trabant University Center patio from noon-4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, and from 2-4 p.m., Thursday, April 26.
Shoes will be donated to Perpetual Pumps for Africa. Shoes not in wearable condition will be sent to Nike Reuse-A-Shoe, where they will be converted to playground material.
