Student Stephanie Prezant dies in accident

4:43 p.m., April 30, 2012--Stephanie Prezant, a University of Delaware senior from Haworth, N.J., died on Sunday, April 29, after a climbing accident on Mohonk Mountain in New York. She was scheduled to graduate in May with majors in criminal justice and psychology. 

"I am deeply saddened by Stephanie's death, and I offer our deepest condolences to her family and friends.  There are no words that fully express the grief that follows the death of one so young. I urge Stephanie's friends to reach out for support during this difficult time," said Dawn Thompson, dean of students and associate vice president for student life.

Students are encouraged to contact the Center for Counseling and Student Development at 302-831-2141 for any needed support and assistance during this time. Also, the staff in the Office of the Dean of Students is available to meet with any student who wishes to talk about this tragic event. Call 302-831-8939 to schedule an appointment or stop by 101 Hullihen Hall. 

The Office of Student Life is providing bus transportation to services for Ms. Prezant, which are scheduled at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, at JCC on the Palisades, 411 East Clinton Ave., Tenafly, N.J. For more information, call the office at 302-831-8939.
