8:27 a.m., Sept. 1, 2010----The University of Delaware Office of Campus and Public Safety and Athletics will hold an evacuation exercise the evening of Monday, Sept. 13, at Delaware Stadium and is seeking student volunteers to participate.

Marcia Nickle, UD emergency manager, said the exercise will be held at 8 p.m. and it is expected that about 1,200 students will participate as “evacuees.”

“The goal of the exercise is to ensure that the ushers, athletics operations, police, fire, EMS and Environmental Health and Safety personnel, who work the football games, facilitate a quick and orderly evacuation,” Nickle said.

Nickle said students who are interested in participating in the exercise should arrive at the stadium at about 7:45 p.m. She also is working with Residence Life and UD's Greek community.

The University community can expect to see response vehicles at the stadium site, as well as hear audible announcements via the public address system, the evening of Sept. 13.
