12 p.m., Sept. 1, 2010----Three members of the University of Delaware Police Department have been promoted, Patrick Ogden, director of Public Safety, has announced. The appointments are effective Sept. 1.
Marvin Clark
Marvin Clark has been promoted to sergeant, assigned to D Squad. He has served as acting sergeant of the squad since January. A member of the UD Police Department since 1996, he was promoted to corporal in July 2005 and assigned to the Technical Services division, where he researched and applied new technologies to the department's day-to-day operations. Clark completed a supervisor training program through the American Management Assn. in November, 2009
Hugh Ferrill
Hugh Ferrill has been promoted to corporal, assigned to the Community Resource Unit. Ferrill joined the UD Police Department last November, after serving as a New Castle County Police officer for 21 years. During his tenure with New Castle County, Ferrill was a Council on Police Training (COPT) certified police officer and held the positions of property detective, human resources background investigator, intelligence officer and gang officer.
Anthony Pray
Anthony Pray has been promoted to corporal, assigned to A Squad. Since joining UD Police in 1999, he has served as a field training officer, has trained both veteran and rookie officers in DUI and alcohol related matters and is a member of the department's emergency response team. In addition to completing various Delaware State Police Training Academy courses, Pray is a certified police instructor. Earlier this year, he received a commendation for performing CPR on a UD employee until EMS arrived and transported the employee to the hospital.
