Employees may drop by this free event anytime between 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Registration for the six-week program remains open until Friday, Sept. 24, and employees can register at the kickoff.

To date, more than 275 employees have registered for the physical activity challenge and chosen their team affiliation -- either Blue or Gold.

The Gold team is captained by Jennifer (J.J.) Davis, vice president for finance and administration, and the Blue team is captained by Provost Tom Apple.

A rally with team captains will take place during the Sept. 21 kickoff event from 12:15 -12:30 p.m.

“Enrollment on each team is now about dead even,” observed Linda Smith, HealthyU program coordinator. “We've enjoyed watching the enthusiasm build as participants choose their teams and invite their colleagues to join them.”

While at the kickoff, employees can pick up their team T-shirts and wristbands, as well as participate in easy fitness tests. The tests include resting blood pressure, body mass index (measuring height and weight), waist-to-hip ratio (measuring body circumferences) and back flexibility (sit and reach test).

Testing stations will be staffed by UD undergraduate volunteers in the College of Health Sciences.

Participants will receive a handout with their results. Those enrolled in “Dare to be fit” will earn bonus points for completing the tests.

Light refreshments will be served.
