5:05 p.m., Sept. 29, 2010----A limited number of tickets for Delaware Debates 2010, featuring Delaware candidates for the U.S. House and Senate, will be made available to the campus community and general public the week of each event.

On Wednesday, Oct. 6, the debate will feature the two major candidates for the Delaware seat in the U.S. House of Representatives - John Carney and Glen Urquhart.

On Wednesday, Oct. 13, candidates for the U.S. Senate, Chris Coons and Christine O'Donnell, will debate.

A limited number of tickets for each debate will be available beginning at 10 a.m. on the Monday before each Wednesday debate. There is a limit of two tickets per person.

Tickets for members of the UD community will be available at the Trabant University Center box office. You must show a current University of Delaware ID to pick up tickets at the Trabant box office.

Tickets for the general public will be available at the Bob Carpenter Center box office.

A limited number of tickets will be distributed to Kent and Sussex county residents through the Office of University Relations. Beginning at 10 a.m., each Monday, Kent County residents can call the office in Dover at (302) 735-8200, and Sussex County residents can call the office in Georgetown at (302) 855-1620. Tickets will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Telephone reservations are not being accepted at the Newark locations.

The debates will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Mitchell Hall on the Newark campus. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and everyone must be seated by 7 p.m. No one will be admitted after 7 p.m.

No campaign materials, literature, hats, stickers, signs or banners will be allowed inside Mitchell Hall.

The audience will be prohibited from applauding or making noise during the debate and may not do anything visible or audible to express support or opposition to any candidate during the debate. Violations will prompt immediate removal of audience members from the debate venue.

Delaware Debates 2010 will be televised live from Mitchell Hall, and video and audio feeds are being made available to all news media. The debates also will be webcast publicly, both live and archived for playback.

Delaware Debates 2010 is co-hosted by the University of Delaware Center for Political Communication and Delaware First Media, and supported by AARP Delaware and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.

Delaware Debates 2010 is part of the National Agenda course at the University, and seats have been reserved for students in the class, as well as the candidates and debate sponsors.
