11:14 a.m., Oct. 11, 2010----The University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, and Friday, Oct. 22, in the Puglisi Orchestra Hall of the Roselle Center for the Arts.
Brian Stone, assistant professor in the Department of Music, will conduct and baritone Robert Brandt, also assistant professor in the department, will sing with the orchestra in Copland's beloved Old American Songs.
The program also features a Czech's impressions of 1890s America with Dvorak's famous Symphony No. 9 From the New World, as well as a Frenchman's impressions from the early 20th century with a rare performance of Edgard Varese's towering colossus of early modernism, Amériques.
Tickets cost $12 for adults, $8 for senior adults, and $3 for students.
