1:11 p.m., Oct. 12, 2010----Willett Kempton, professor in the School of Marine Science and Policy and director of the Center for Carbon-free Power Integration at the University of Delaware, is quoted in a front page article in the Tuesday, Oct. 12, issue of The New York Times concerning a $5 billion wind power transmission line proposed for the Atlantic coast.
Among the investors in the project is Internet giant Google.
Kempton discussed administrative hurdles faced by the project and the value of such a “transmission spine.”
Kempton is a renowned expert in offshore wind power, with research focused on the viability and efficiency of wind farms and on gauging public opinion concerning wind power.
