9:19 a.m., Oct. 26, 2010----The University of Delaware is setting out to reclaim the Colonial Athletic Association Have a Heart Blood Challenge trophy.
UD has won the challenge prize four times by attracting large numbers of blood donors from among students, faculty and staff.
In 2009, Drexel University topped Delaware and matched its four-year winning record.
This year's campus CAA Blood Challenge will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center.
Advance registration is important, although some walk-in donors might be able to be accommodated. To register, call the Blood Bank of Delmarva at 1-888-8-BLOOD-8.
The challenge is sponsored by the Resident Student Association, HOLA, Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and the Food Science Club.
There will be free drinks provided by Coca-Cola and Otis Spunkmeyer cookies courtesy of UD Dining Services. The Blood Bank of Delmarva will provide free T-shirts.
