And now a new reporting tool is available from Research.gov to assist researchers in completing the report. See the UD Research website to access step-by-step instructions and frequently asked questions.

Section 7010 of the America COMPETES Act requires that research funded by NSF report on the outcomes for the general public. These reports are available for public viewing on Research.gov.

The Project Outcomes Report is:

• A brief summary prepared by the Principal Investigator (PI) or co-PI specifically for the public, describing the nature and outcomes of the project. It should describe the outcomes or findings that address the intellectual merit and broader impacts of the work (200-800 words) as defined in the NSF merit review criteria and covering the life of the award. It may include up to six (optional) images that creatively show the work.

• Submitted through the Research.gov website.

• Due by the end of the 90-day reporting period after the award expires.
