12:27 p.m., Nov. 4, 2010----Thierry Morlet, adjunct professor in the Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science at the University of Delaware and head of the Auditory Physiology and Psychoacoustics Research Laboratory at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, will speak at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 12, in Room 005 Kirkbride Hall as part of the Cognitive Science Colloquium Series.

Morlet will speak on the " Role of Efferent Auditory Pathways in Speech Perception."

Morlet, who studied at the University of Lyon 1 in France, is assistant editor of the journal Otoacoustic Emissions. He has taught at Lyon 1 and at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

He has presented papers, workshops and seminars at many locations around the globe and has a long list of publications in leading journals and in books from leading presses.

Morlet's research has been supported by many prestigious granting organizations, including ICS Medical, GN Otometrics, the National Organization for Hearing Research and Nemours Biomedical Research, among others.

The Cognitive Science Colloquium Series is sponsored by the Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science. The Nov. 12 presentation is free and open to the public.
