UD employees still have time to spend 2010-11 Wellness Dollars
3:07 p.m., May 26, 2011--University of Delaware employees have until June 30 to spend their Wellness Dollars for this fiscal year. Any Wellness Dollars not used by the deadline are forfeited and employees receive a new allotment for the 2011-12 fiscal year on July 1.

“Summer Survivor Challenge," a six-week, self-paced wellness campaign designed to promote physical activity and a variety of healthy behaviors. The events runs from June 20-July 31. Based on the popular television show Survivor, participants will attempt to “stay on the island” by meeting their weekly physical activity goal and by completing optional healthy behavior challenges.
All who register receive a bandana with the program logo at the beginning of the challenge and all eligible finishers receive an insulated water bottle holder. The cost is 20 Wellness Dollars.
Two “Know Your Numbers” health screenings are scheduled in June. Employees may reserve an appointment time for June 14 between 9 a.m. and noon in Room 208 Gore Hall or June 15 from 1-3 p.m. in Room 116 Brown Lab. The 10-minute screening includes measurement of total, HDL and LDL cholesterol and glucose using a finger-stick blood sample, as well as blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) measurements.
Results are available immediately and it is not necessary to fast. The cost is 15 Wellness Dollars.
Employee-Only Fitness Classes begin the week of May 31 and run through the end of June. Instructors tailor classes to the fitness levels and interests of the class participants. Offerings include Zumba, STEP, "awesome abs" and a "no sweat express" workout. Participants must register and pay for the five weeks in advance of attending.
