Events Stories

Dec. 22: Creamery Claus

During this busy holiday season, Santa Claus will make a stop at the University of Delaware's UDairy Creamery from 1-4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 22.

Dec. 24-Jan. 2: Holiday skating

The University of Delaware Ice Arenas will host holiday skating sessions beginning Wednesday, Dec. 24, and continuing through Friday, Jan. 2.

The June lecture, titled "Environmental Monitoring: Understanding Fickle Weather in the First State," will cover the wide-ranging environmental observing tools used to track the weather and climate of Delaware.

“Anyone who has lived in the Delmarva region knows how drastically the weather can change from day to day and from one year to the next,” said Leathers, who will discuss such changes in weather.

Leathers will draw on his work as co-director of the Delaware Environmental Observing System (DEOS), a real-time regional monitoring system that provides data on weather conditions, stream levels, tidal conditions, snow depth, coastal flooding, and many other environmental variables. DEOS provides the information for use by emergency managers, decision-makers, researchers, and citizens.

For reservations, which are required due to limited seating, contact Michelle Scorziello at mkscorzi@udel.edu or 302-645-4346. Light refreshments are served at the hourlong lecture.
