Anne Rebecca Lomax, June 9, 2011

12:36 p.m., June 28, 2011--Anne Rebecca Lomax, 60, of Newark, died on June 9. 

A 1973 alumna of the University of Delaware, Ms. Lomax worked for many years at the University in health education, helping to grow the Wellspring program and the S.O.S. (Sexual Offense Support) group. 

The daughter of the late Ernest S. and Martha Mitchell Lomax, Ms. Lomax was a graduate of Newark High School. She received a master's degree from the University of Minnesota. 

Ms. Lomax was an active volunteer with PAWS for People, taking her dog, Brodie, and cat, Belle, for reading assist. She and Brodie also visited patients at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and local nursing homes.

She expressed her artistic talent through painting, photography, sculpture and wood carving. 

Ms. Lomax is survived by her brother, Kenneth M. Lomax and wife, Nancy, of West Grove, Pa.; uncles Joseph Mitchell and wife, Kathy, of Hockessin, and Larry Parrish of Kennett Square, Pa.; and many cousins. 

A memorial service was held June 18 at New Ark UCC Church in Newark.
