1:10 p.m., July 22, 2010----Adults 50 and over who enjoy new ideas, new friends, and new experiences are invited to attend an open house at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at University of Delaware in Wilmington (formerly the Academy of Lifelong Learning) from 9 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, Aug. 3.
The open house will be held at Arsht Hall, which is located at 2700 Pennsylvania Ave. Brief tours of the facilities, a preview of fall classes and light refreshments will be offered.
UD Lifelong Learning is a vibrant learning cooperative that provides opportunities for adults 50 and older to learn, teach and travel with their peers. The only requirements for admission are interest in a continuing educational experience, support of the programs through participation and a modest membership fee. Courses meet weekdays at Arsht Hall.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, more than 225 courses will be offered for the fall semester. Topics include art, computers, current events, economics, history, languages, literature, music, science and yoga.
Special lectures, musical programs, study trips and social events are planned also by and for members.
Membership for the fall semester is $230 or $410 for both the fall and spring semesters, and covers up to five classes and many activities. Parking is free and membership includes UD library, course audit and student fitness center privileges.
UD Lifelong Learning in Wilmington is accepting in-person and mailed registrations for fall semester classes on July 27-29, from noon to 3 p.m., and Aug. 2-6, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Arsht Hall.
Membership gift certificates may be purchased at the office, open daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
