11:10 a.m., Jan. 24, 2011----University of Delaware alumni and friends are invited to attend the Saturday Symposium Discussion program on Feb. 26 at the Trabant University Center for a day of discussion, art and theatre.

The program offers an opportunity to engage with UD faculty, tour the University's galleries, enjoy a buffet lunch and attend a viewing of the Resident Ensemble Players production of All the King's Men.

The Saturday Symposium Discussion will begin at 9 a.m.

Following a continental breakfast, participants can listen and discuss "Demagoguery as Political Communication" with Ralph Begleiter and Jim Brophy, both faculty in UD's Center for Political Communication (CPC).

Begleiter is director of the CPC and spent two decades as CNN's world affairs correspondent. Brophy specializes in modern European history, particularly the social and political history of 19th-century Germany.

The second session, titled "Telling True Stories," will feature Kevin Kerrane and McKay Jenkins of the Department of English. Kerrane is a professor of drama, journalism and Irish studies and Jenkins is director of journalism and has written extensively about people and the natural world.

Following the two morning sessions, attendees will take a tour of the of the Old College Gallery.

At 12:15 p.m., a Southern BBQ buffet lunch will be served.

Lunch will be followed by the REP matinee performance of All the King's Men.

This event is $60 per person and includes breakfast, the sessions, tour, lunch and play.
