The hotel is making plans to host a donor drive and also will be networking with many other partners in the community.

Jeana Moore, the walking representative of the Steps to Marrow program and founder of the Jada Bascom Foundation, visited the Courtyard Newark recently.

Moore is walking across the country on a mission to help spread the word about how a simple online test can save lives and families. She began her walk in the state of Washington and is in this area through Jan. 27, as she makes her way into Philadelphia, through New Jersey and over the George Washington Bridge into New York City. Once in the Big Apple, she will be joined for the final three miles by her family and the bone marrow donor who saved her granddaughter's life.

Moore worked for six years with the Peacemaker Community, which is focused on connecting, training and empowering peacemakers worldwide.
