8:19 a.m., Feb. 8, 2011----The University of Delaware Office of the General Counsel has announced a new policy concerning Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests related to University records.
UD Policy 3-30 provides information regarding the University's rules on access to public records under the Delaware Freedom of Information Act.
The statutory language of Delaware's FOIA generally exempts the University from coverage under the law unless the requests relate to "the expenditure of public funds...."
Policy 3-30 provides definitions on related terms; information on the proper way to make a FOIA request; the appropriate time frame in which the University will respond to a FOIA request; information on fees charged for the production of public records; and confidentiality related to certain records.
The entire policy is available at the University policies website.
Those who have questions are encouraged to contact the Office of the General Counsel.
