8:38 a.m., Feb. 2, 2011----The University of Delaware's on-campus housing sign-up period will kick off with a series of events the week after students return to campus.
The sign-up period will last from Feb. 16 to March 15. Students who submit applications by the March 15 deadline will be guaranteed housing for the 2011-2012 academic year.
On Tuesday, Feb. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m., students will have the opportunity to tour the upper class residence halls before they complete their housing applications.
UD shuttle buses will depart the Trabant University Center at 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and will make stops at the following locations: Independence Complex, Ray Street, Central Campus, and the Christiana Towers.
Pizza and refreshments will be served at the Christiana Commons and Brown Hall at the end of the tours.
Students can sign up for a time slot at the following times and locations:
- Monday, Feb. 7, 12:30 to 2 p.m., Trabant University Center kiosk.
- Tuesday, Feb. 8, 12:30 to 2 p.m., Trabant University Center kiosk.
- Wednesday, Feb. 9, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kent Dining Hall, lunch.
- Thursday, Feb. 10, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Rodney Dining Hall, dinner.
- Friday, Feb. 11, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Russell Dining Hall, lunch.
On Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Housing Assignment Services will host the annual On-Campus Housing Fair in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center.
Students will have the opportunity to sign up for housing and learn more about UD departments and organizations. There will be free food, giveaways, and entertainment by Registered Student Organizations.
Staff from Housing Assignment Services and Residence Life will be on hand to assist students with their applications and answer questions about living on campus.
Students will have the chance to win prizes including a bike, gift cards, a bus trip to New York City, tickets to lunch at Vita Nova, movie tickets, and more. Students should bring their IDs to enter door prize raffles.
