9:07 a.m., Feb. 25, 2011----“The Italians are Coming!” is the theme of a University of Delaware Department of Music faculty recital to be held at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Roselle Center for the Arts.
Faculty artists Marianne Gythfeldt, Lawrence Stomberg and Julie Nishimura will present works by Ferruccio Busoni, Felix Mendelssohn, Luciano Berio and Luigi Ceccarelli.
Gythfeldt also will perform Escher Geometrics and Six Point Three, two contemporary works created by PG2, her collaboration with Ashley John Pigford, electric guitarist and assistant professor of visual communication. PG2 improvises using "found" objects as inspiration, utilizing unusual sound sources and creating mixed-media, interactive pieces.
Tickets cost $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and $3 for students, and will be available at the door the evening of the recital.
