9:17 a.m., Feb. 25, 2011----University of Delaware Day in Washington, D.C., will be held from 5-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, in the Russell Senate Office Building and alumni are invited to attend.

The reception, in the Kennedy Caucus Room (Room 325), will showcase UD's leadership in federally funded projects. Featured will be interactive displays highlighting University research including multifunctional composite materials to support the nation's soldiers, next-generation magnets and renewable energy solutions, a baby mobility robot and an autonomous underwater vehicle.

The Philadelphia Alumni Club will hold young alumni happy hour at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, at the Irish Pol in Old City, 45 S. 3rd St. For details, see the Philadelphia Alumni Club website.

UD Fashion and Apparel Studies alumni will gather for a reception from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, March 10, at the Glass House Tavern, 252 W. 47th St., in New york City. Cost is $30 and registration is required, with a March 7 deadline. For details, see the UDconnection website.

The New Castle County Alumni Club will hold a cooking class and demonstration hosted by Debbie Ellingsworth, a 1977 UD graduate and chef and instructor at the student-run Vita Nova restaurant, at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 20, in Room 208 of the Trabant University Center.
