“Ann has been dedicated to getting the right information to University clients for over 27 years -- from the days of filing cabinets filled with handouts to the present day with websites, forums, and multimedia,” the ACM citation indicated.

Amsler began working for the unit now called Information Technologies in 1983 and was responsible for handbooks on all the major UD computing systems, for the University's computing newsletter, and for numerous software documents.

She has created websites for major University initiatives and chaired a campus-wide committee in 2006-07 on the University's use of a web-based content management system.

The ACM citation also noted that Amsler has been active in both the Society for Technical Communication (STC) and ACM.

She has been a judge for the International Communications Competition, a peer reviewer of STC's Technical Communication journal, and an STC workshop organizer.

Amsler has been active in ACM SIGUCCS since 1984. During that time, she has served as SIGUCCS newsletter editor (six years), presented papers at four SIGUCCS conferences, been a member of three UD teams that have been recognized in SIGUCCS communication competitions, judged SIGUCCS communication contests, reviewed papers for ACM SIGUCCS and worked on conference programs.

“It was an honor and a great surprise to have received this recognition,” Amsler said. “Participation in over 20 of the ACM SIGUCCS conferences since 1984 has allowed me to share with others what we do at UD and to learn what colleagues at other universities have done to support their clients.”

The ACM citation indicated that Amsler “exemplifies what a volunteer should be,” and that her participation “is a model for others who attend [SIGUUCS] conferences to emulate.”
