2:56 p.m., Dec. 14, 2010----The Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware has just signed up the 2,000th family in its very special program just for UD parents.
The “UD Very Important Parents,” or VIP program, offers special services and savings to participating families, not only in the hotel but also in local restaurants, shops and attractions.
Developed in April 2009, with the assistance of Kathy Wheatley in the Office of Communications and Marketing and a team of UD hotel, restaurant and institutional management students, this free program has been extremely popular with UD parents.
Bill Sullivan, managing director of the hotel, said, “We are so excited to offer this very special promotion to the parents of our UD students. We have engaged our hotel team and local merchants to come up with a great program for our very important parents. I hope all parents will join and enjoy the additional services and discounts that our program offers.”
Members receive discounts for hotel guest rooms, dining and other services, as well as discounts at local restaurants, shops and attractions. All the items are updated weekly on the VIP website.
To participate, visit the site and submit the request form. Hotel staff will respond with full information about membership.
"We offer this only to UD parents," Sullivan said. "We want to do everything we can to add value to their visits to Newark and give them the service that they deserve as UD parents."
