4:02 p.m., Aug. 30, 2010----Newark Police are investigating the street robbery of two women that occurred at 1:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, on North Chapel Street in Newark.
The women, both 21-year-old University of Delaware students, were walking on North Chapel when two women approached them from behind. The victims were sprayed in the face with pepper spray, and one was tackled to the ground. Both had their purses taken. One of the victims suffered a scraped knee that did not require medical attention, and the other was not injured.
The suspects were last seen entering a red or maroon car that was driven away northbound on North Chapel. A more detailed description of the suspects was not available when police released the information on the crime.
