UD alumnus, Dentsu COO to speak in executive leadership series

11:35 a.m., April 12, 2011--John Partilla, chief operating officer of Dentsu Network West and a 1986 graduate of the University of Delaware, will speak on his media company’s unique position in today’s shifting communications landscape in a talk, “An Overview of the Dentsu Network,” as part of the 2011 Chaplin Tyler Executive Leadership Speaker Series at 2 p.m., Friday, April 15. 

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held in 125 Lerner Hall on the UD campus in Newark.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Partilla, who is responsible for building the overall architecture of the recently formed network, oversees operations and business development strategies for the network’s agencies, which total 34 offices and over 1,400 employees across the Americas, Europe and Australia.

Prior to joining Dentsu, Partilla was executive vice president and president of global media sales at Clear Channel Communications, Inc., where he led national business development across the company’s radio and outdoor businesses and was a member of the company’s operating board.

During his tenure at Clear Channel, Partilla was elected to Mediaweek’s “Leading Media Players 2010.”

Partilla previously worked at Time Warner and prior to his media sector experience spent 18 years on the agency side of the business at companies including Young and Rubicam and Brand Buzz.

In addition to his UD degree, Partilla holds an MBA from Columbia University.

The Chaplin Tyler Executive Leadership Lecture Series brings leaders from business, nonprofit organizations and the government to campus to share their experiences and insights with students, faculty and the business community in an open exchange of ideas and perspectives.

The series, which is supported by the Chaplin Tyler Endowment Fund, is dedicated to the memory of Chap and Elizabeth Tyler, their commitment to education and their determination to help young people achieve success in the business world.
