Science Cafe series continues April 19
Informal gatherings will explore the science of forests, art conservation, wine
2:33 p.m., April 18, 2011--The Science, Ethics and Public Policy Program (SEPP) at the University of Delaware will continue its Science Café program with a presentation on Tuesday, April 19, entitled “What Happens in the Forest When It Rains, and Why Is It Important?”
The event will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Deer Park Tavern, 108 W. Main St., in Newark.

Del Levia, associate professor of geography and plant and soil sciences, as well as the director of the Environmental Science and Studies Program, will be the guest speaker.
SEPP is offering two additional Science Cafés this spring, including one on Monday, May 2, entitled “The Chemistry of Art,” also from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Deer Park Tavern. The guest speaker is Christina Cole, an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow of Conservation Education.
The final Science Café in the spring series, entitled “The Science of Wine,” is on Thursday, May 19. The guest speaker is Pamela Green, Crawford H. Greenewalt Professor of Plant and Soil Sciences, as well as marine studies at the University of Delaware and the Delaware Biotechnology Institute. This third event will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. at The Stone Balloon Winehouse, 115 E. Main St. Space for this program is limited, and an RSVP is required. The series, supported by Delaware's National Science Foundation EPSCoR program, is free and open to the public. Food and refreshments will be served.
