CAS expands international partnerships

College of Arts and Sciences signs agreements with partner universities in China

8:57 a.m., April 25, 2011--The University of Delaware College of Arts and Sciences has signed supplementary agreements with Beijing Normal University’s College for Criminal Law Science and Xiamen University’s School of Public Affairs, outlining specific activity in student exchanges, faculty/staff partnerships and research collaborations. 

Signed by CAS Dean George Watson and the deans of the partner colleges, the agreements are expected to enhance collaboration in education and research in the areas of criminal justice and public policy.

This summer's Plastino Scholars will be traveling the world, and thanks to a partnership with UD Social Media, the entire UD community can follow along.

“The agreements reflect our efforts to articulate the foundation for increased student and faculty exchanges across institutions, while simultaneously advancing the strategic university goal of enhancing global initiatives,” said Ronet Bachman, professor and chair of the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, who accompanied Watson abroad, along with faculty members Aaron Fichtelberg, Joanne Nigg and Ivan Sun.

During the visit to China, Watson met with senior administrators at both institutions and discussed possibilities for future partnerships with BNU’s School of Social Development and Public Policy and Xiamen University’s Colleges of Arts, Mathematics, and Chemistry.
