10:23 a.m., Sept. 1, 2009----The University of Delaware has announced a new Restaurant Affiliates Program, through which UD faculty and staff can find dining alternatives for business meals at Newark restaurants.

“With the closing of the Blue and Gold Club, faculty and staff are looking for new dining options to hold small business lunches and dinners,” said Eric Nelson, advertising manager in UD's Office of Communications and Marketing. “The UD Restaurant Affiliates Program was developed to offer an appealing alternative among local restaurants.”

UD faculty and staff are encouraged to use the University travel and entertainment (T&E) card at local restaurants that participate in the program as a money-saving tool, as those restaurants have agreed to a 10 percent discount on purchases made on the card.

Faculty and staff can see details and select from among participating restaurants at a new University Web site, which includes links to the restaurant Web sites and enables prospective diners to review menus.

At the participating restaurant selected, UD diners should be sure to inform wait staff that they will be paying by using the travel and entertainment card so they will receive the 10 percent discount.

The kick-off of the UD Restaurant Affiliates Program coincides with the beginning of the new academic year.
