9:31 a.m., Sept. 15, 2009----The Music School of Delaware will open its 2009-2010 concert season with an Alumni Celebration co-hosted by the University of Delaware's Department of Music. The event will be held at the Music School of Delaware's Wilmington branch at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7, and will feature performances by alumni from the Music School and UD.
As part of the celebration, the school will present its inaugural Distinguished Alumni Awards.
“We are pleased to actively initiate increased recognition of the Music School of Delaware alumni with the first Distinguished Alumni Awards - one for accomplishment in the field of music and one for accomplishment in a field other than music,” said Music School President and CEO Kate M. Ransom, who added, “It is fitting that we collaborate with the University of Delaware's Department of Music on this alumni concert. We have a significant number of shared students, alumni, and faculty -- in music and in many other fields -- and we also share satisfaction and pride in their accomplishments and service.”
The Music School of Delaware is now accepting nominations for the awards, and nominations are due by Sept. 15. Details and a form are available on the Music School's Web site.
