9:39 a.m., Sept. 23, 2009----Due to the success of a “Management Skills for New Managers” workshop offered earlier this year, University of Delaware Training and Organizational Development has partnered with the American Management Association to once again bring this workshop to University managers and supervisors.
The three-day workshop, which is geared toward managers and supervisors who are responsible for five or more employees, will provide practice in the skills every manager must have in order to achieve team synergy and success.
Beginning with a self-assessment tool for new managers, participants will have the opportunity to practice by utilizing exercises that pinpoint their strengths and bring to light opportunities for improvement. Interactive activities will take participants through the paces of motivation, delegation, communication, performance management, Situational Leadership II and coaching.
The workshop will be facilitated by Diana Schackman, who received a master of business administration degree from Jacksonville (Fla.) University a bachelor's degree from Columbia Pacific University. She has served as an adjunct professor at Florida Community College and in the continuing education departments of the University of North Florida and Jacksonville University.
Schackman has been published in several national publications. She wrote a monthly column for Golden Times, produced and hosted a local radio show and produced and hosted a cable television interview show for ten years.
